Wansbeck Green Party
Join us in the fight for climate action, and a more equal society
Welcome to Wansbeck Green Party! Our parliamentary constituency in Northumberland is home to an estimated electorate of over 62,000 people, and our footprint includes the towns of Ashington, Bedlington, Morpeth, and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.
We’re a friendly focussed group, determined to do what we can to ensure Wansbeck becomes greener, more sustainable, and socially fair.
Our Election Successes
We’ve had representatives on Morpeth Town Council since 1995, and in May 2021 both Elisa Miles (previously Lawson) and Elaine Skinner became Green Morpeth Town Councillors.
We also had huge success in Ashington, where Michelle Brannigan was elected to Ashington Town Council – the first non-Labour councillor since the council was established in 2009.
Elsewhere in Northumberland, two Green Party councillors were elected to the Northumberland County Council, Martin Swinburn (Alnwick) and Nick Morphet (Humshaugh). Michelle Brannigan came a hugely strong second in Ashington Central with a whopping 26.7% of the vote.
We are always excited to hear from those interested in the work of the Green Party, whether you’re an existing member wanting to get more involved, or someone interested in finding out more about the party and what we do locally.
The Green Party is the only major political party in the UK that is fully committed to a life based on democracy, justice, equality and one within the planet’s limits.
